Police Officer 3

The Police Officer 3 position at Louisiana State University of Alexandria provides a full range of police services with a primary emphasis on enforcement of laws, investigations of crimes and accidents, and providing emergency services and crime prevention programs. The role may serve as assistant shift supervisor by overseeing the full range of police services on an assigned shift.

The Police Officer 3 position is responsible for the policing and safety of 5300 acres, twelve major buildings, on-campus faculty homes, the "Oaks" housing complex, and evacuation center - which can house over 3,500 people. Applicants are required to work a Flex Shift, covering various AM and PM shifts. Applicants must have P.O.S.T. Certification and will be eligible for the Special Entrance Rate (SER) of $21.27 per hour.

Minimum qualifications include two years of experience in law enforcement work. Applicants must have Civil Service test scores for 2100-Protective Services Exam (PSE) to be considered for this vacancy unless exempted by Civil Service rule or policy. Passing score on the 2100-PSE (Protective Services Exam) is required. Applicants must be P.O.S.T. certified. College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of thirty semester hours for one year of experience. Necessary special requirements include being at least eighteen years old at the time of appointment and may require a valid Louisiana driver's license at the time of appointment.

Additional duties include:

• 40% Protecting lives and property through active foot and mobile patrol, and through physical defensive tactics.
• 20% Conducting investigations, including criminal investigations.
• 20% Enforcing parking and traffic regulations.
• 10% Providing first aid and emergency assistance.
• 5% Maintaining a close working relationship with other law enforcement agencies.
• 5% Being self-motivated to work unsupervised.
